SafeLight Photographic Supply uses modernist design as a lens to explore the culture and technology of DIY darkroom photography. The tongue-in-cheek concept for an obsolete catalog came from artist and photographer Doug Fogelson. It examines themes of decay and the ephemeral, presenting rare and obsolescent photo equipment along with found images and media.

My design considers the twentieth-century photographic supply catalog as an ideal form. Its backbone is an elegant grid. Restrained use of type reflects the practical limits of print in an era before digital fonts. An edition of 500 newsprint catalogs was printed in 2015.
